CBD counteracts the psychoactive effect

The THC and the CBD are the most common cannabinoids of the hemp, and share a very special relation. Read on to discover if CBD helps mitigate the negative effects of THC, and find out what ratio of CBD to THC is best for you.

The hemp plant produces hundreds of different phytochemicals that belong to several families: cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, etc. Of between all of them, the cannabinoides THC and CBD emphasize by being the two more popular chemical substances.

All these cannabic compounds have their own aims, but their effects usually are more intense when they are combined. This chemical synergy receives the name of effect entourage. According to this theory, they are not only the cannabinoides like the THC and the CBD those that form a synergic relation, also happens with the terpenes and other compounds. With respect to our cannabinoide star, can the CBD counteract or mitigate the psychoactive effect of the THC? Discover it next.

CBD VS THC

The CBD and the THC are the most abundant cannabinoids in the modern varieties. Although both have beneficial effects, the main difference is that the THC is psychoactive and the CBD not.

The THC is the person in charge of the rise that induces the hemp. This molecule produces the euphoric, pleasant and relaxing effect associated with the consumption of hemp. But the THC also can have other effects nonwished, like the paranoia and the panic that sometimes causes in consumers with little experience or who are not prepared.

What is the secret behind this effect? THC binds to the CB1 receptors of the endocannabinoid system like a key to a lock. These receptors are found throughout the central nervous system, and when they are activated, a series of chemical changes occur that result in an altered state of consciousness.

Researchers are beginning to understand how CBD affects the body. Like THC, CBD also interacts with the endocannabinoid system, but in a different way. This molecule does not join to the receivers cannabinoides with too much affinity, and the fact that it does not do it, explains why the CBD does not have a psychoactive effect.

Instead, the CBD increases the level of the endocannabinoides, like the anandamida (often called “molecule of the happiness”), that are united to the receivers cannabinoides of the body. The CBD also binds to the receivers of serotonin, TRPV1, GPR55, and PPAR to produce its effects.

Through these routes, the investigators have verified that the CBD produces several different results. This cannabinoid seems to help people who feel nervous and overwhelmed [1], and could calm delicate skin [2] and relieve sore muscles [3].

COMBINATION OF CBD AND THC

The combination of CBD and THC offers numerous benefits. Not only does it help mitigate the high, they also seem to work better together. One of the easiest ways to consume both molecules at the same time is by smoking. Choose a variety that has the same amount of THC as CBD. This type of grass provides enough THC to trigger the CB1 receptors, and the right level of CBD to counteract the negative effects.

If you have a special sensitivity to the THC, try a variety rich in CBD with a low content of THC. This way you will get the effects of both cannabinoids, but the high will be softer.

You can also take oil of CBD while you smoke or vapeas. Inhale a THC-rich herb and have a bottle of CBD oil on hand to mitigate the high. If the effects are too intense, put a few drops under your tongue and wait for them to be absorbed.

You can also take several drops before smoking to counteract the psychoactive effect before it appears. This way, you will be able to medicate yourself accurately and quickly.
