Submitting Your Powerpoint Presentation
Presenters are strongly encouraged to prepare a computer presentation for on-screen display. This should be submitted via email in Microsoft PowerPoint format (or on floppy disk or CD-ROM), no later than 20 April 2010, so that we can check it and load it onto our computer. Please note that large files (more than 20MB) should not be sent by e-mail, but rather by disk You will be able to preview your presentation in the session hall on the afternoon of 27 April or before the sessions begin on 28 or 29 April.
Alternatively, you can bring your own portable computer for your presentation (this must have a standard external monitor port). If you intend to do this please notify us in advance, and we will arrange a set-up time for you in advance of your session to ensure that the presentation is working correctly.
Note for Mac Users: Please note that we use only PC format. We have had difficulty in the past in dealing with Mac files, so please submit all presentations in PC format. If you wish to use your own portable Mac for your computer presentation, please notify us in advance and be sure to allow plenty of time for set-up.
Preparing Computer Presentations
Every year we unfortunately see some slides which contain too much detail, use text that is too small or colours that make them difficult to read. Please bear in mind the importance of keeping slides as simple and as straightforward as possible.
Note that we have sometimes had problems with PowerPoint files that were very large as they contained high resolution graphics or photos. Note that a resolution greater than 150dpi does not improve on-screen appearance, but dramatically increases the file size. This causes a delay of several seconds before the figure appears on the screen. Please use graphics software to reduce the resolution (and the file size) before loading into PowerPoint.
Oral Presentation
To ensure the smooth running of the conference, the time allocated for your presentation must not be exceeded, and Session Chairmen will be asked to be strict in ensuring that speakers keep to their allotted time (15-20 minutes). Adherence to the timetable is also important to allow adequate time for questions and discussion.
