Luca Desiata

Luca Desiata is currently working as the Head of Strategic Projects in Enel. He has a background as a Mechanical Engineer and an MBA at INSEAD. Before joining Enel, he worked as a strategy consultant with Bain and as an IFC/World Bank advisor for privatization programs in the Balkans.
He has been involved in the nuclear industry since 2005, when Enel decided to re-enter the sector through the acquisition of a majority stake in the Slovak nuclear power producer Slovenske Elektrarne. Since then, Mr. Desiata has coordinated several projects on nuclear energy, including a study on recent global trends and economics of nuclear power generation. He contributed to the formulation of Enel's nuclear strategy, supporting top management's decisions with an assessment of the Spanish nuclear market, a survey on nuclear industry perspectives, an analysis of comparables' positioning and an advanced statistical-financial model to determine the long-term optimal share of nuclear within a generation portfolio.
In addition to nuclear energy, he is involved in the development of other strategic projects, in the fields of renewables, portfolio strategy, international integration, finance and risk management.
Daniel R. Einbund

Daniel R Einbund joined the nuclear fuel industry in 1981 as Counsel, Nuclear Fuel Services in Transnuclear, Inc. in New York and later was one of the founding members of Nukem, Inc. In 1982 he founded New York Nuclear Corporation and has been its Vice President since. Mr. Einbund has been active in all areas of nuclear fuel brokerage, and is also a founding principal of Washington Nuclear Corporation, publisher of the FreshFUEL newsletter. He developed the UraniumOnLine nuclear fuel online trading system. Mr. Einbund is a lawyer admitted to the Bar of the State of New York. He has made many presentations at industry conferences, and has taught law courses in the International Law School at the University of Montpellier, France. He was a member of the Executive Board of the Uranium Institute and has and continues to serve in a number of industry committees and working groups. Mr. Einbund is currently a member of the Board of Management of the World Nuclear Association. He attended the City University of New York, Pace Law School and NYU Law School.
Dustin J. Garrow

Dustin J. Garrow is Executive General Manager - Marketing of Paladin Resources Ltd., a position he assumed effective January 1, 2007. He has overall responsible for the marketing/sales of uranium produced at the company's Langer Heinrich Uranium mine located in the Republic of Namibia as well as expected production from the Kayelekera Uranium Project located in the Republic of Malawai. In addition, Garrow directs Paladin's nuclear fuel trading activities.
Previously, he was president of ZB Marketing, LLC (ZBM), a Coloradobased company that he founded in 1999, which provided commercial consulting support to the nuclear fuel industry, specializing in supply chain analysis and market-related assessments.
Mr. Garrow has held a variety of executive level positions in the industry including Senior Vice President-Marketing at World Wide Minerals, Executive Vice President at Nuclear Fuel Resources and Vice President - Marketing & Sales at ConverDyn. Moreover, Mr. Garrow held senior uranium marketing positions at Energy Fuels, Inc., Everest Exploration, Inc. and Rocky Mountain Energy.
Mr. Garrow received his B.A. in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (1970) and completed coursework for an M.B.A. (Management) at San Francisco State University (1977). Prior to joining the nuclear fuel industry, he was on active duty in the U.S. Naval Reserve as an Anti-Submarine Warfare/Nuclear Weapons Officer on board the U.S.S. Shelton (DD-790).
James J. Graham

Mr. Graham is the President and CEO of ConverDyn, the joint venture between affiliates of Honeywell International, Inc. and General Atomics, and manages the international marketing of conversion services from Honeywell's Metropolis Works as well as serving on the Steering Committee for the plant.
Mr. Graham has served as Chairman of the Board of Governors for the World Nuclear Fuel Market (WNFM) and is the past Chairman of the Nuclear Energy Institute's (NEI) Nuclear Fuel Supply Forum. Mr. Graham is currently co-chairing the committee to develop the nuclear industry's Market Report 2007 for the World Nuclear Association (WNA).
Prior to his current position, he was a Senior Vice President of General Atomics and responsible for the company's nuclear fuel cycle activities from 1992 until 2004. Prior to General Atomics, he held the position of President and COO of NUEXCO and NUEXCO Trading Company.
Before joining NUEXCO, Mr. Graham spent eight years with the French oil company, TOTAL as President of its North American uranium, coal and gold mining assets. Mr. Graham also held position of President COO at General Exploration Co., a diversified energy company based in Dallas, Texas. He also held senior positions at Zapata Fuels, Inc., and Texas Gulf, Inc., all in the areas of the energy industry.
All together, Mr. Graham has over 35 years in the mining industry with over 22 years in the international nuclear industry and has been the author of numerous papers on uranium, conversion and the nuclear fuel cycle.
Mr. Graham received his bachelor's degree in metallurgical/mining engineering in 1970 from Michigan Technological University.
Stephen W. Kidd

Stephen Kidd is head of strategy and research at the World Nuclear Association (WNA), the international association for nuclear energy based in London, England.
Mr. Kidd joined WNA's predecessor organization, The Uranium Institute, as senior research officer in 1995. From 1990 to 1995, he was an independent consultant. From 1981 to 1990, he was an industrial economist with leading UK companies specializing in the raw materials and engineering sectors. His prime responsibility was the analysis of markets of interest to his employers, including possible business diversification. Prior to his consulting career, he was an economics tutor at Sheffield University.
Mr. Kidd received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics from Queens' College, University of Cambridge. He is a member of the International Association for Energy Economics.
Felix M. Killar

Felix Killar is senior director, fuel supply & material licensees for the Nuclear Energy Institute.
Mr. Killar manages generic operational, technical and regulatory issues relating to nuclear fuel cycle facilities and radionuclides/radiopharmaceutical facilities. He also addresses issues related to nuclear fuel supply and insurance coverage for nuclear facilities. In addition he oversees the management of the nuclear industry’s measurement assurance program conducted in cooperation with the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Mr. Killar joined NEI in 1988, after working for Entergy Corporation (formerly Middle South Service Company) in New Orleans in a number of roles for 11 years. His background includes working for Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc., a nuclear fuel fabrication and research facility, and three years service in the U.S. Navy.
He earned a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering from Mississippi State University and a master's degree in business administration from Mississippi College.
Son H. Kim, Ph.D.

Dr. Son H. Kim is a Senior Research Scientist at the Joint Global Change Research Institute, collaboration between the University of Maryland and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). He has been with PNNL since 1993, and has focused on the development and utilization of energy/economic models at PNNL to understand the role of technologies and policies for addressing climate change. He has conducted multiple studies for the US Department of Energy, US Environmental Protection Agency, and other domestic and international organizations on the regional and global impact of technologies and policies for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. He leads the effort in the development of the next generation of energy/economic models using modern software approaches to understand emerging questions related to climate change and technology. Dr. Kim received his B.S. in Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Steven P. Kraft

Steven P. Kraft is Senior Director, Used Fuel Management at the Nuclear Energy Institute, where he leads policy development and program management for used nuclear fuel management and transportation on behalf of the nuclear energy industry. Mr. Kraft joined NEI at its formation in 1994 as a merger of nuclear industry associations. Prior to joining NEI, Mr. Kraft served the industry and its customers in similar capacities at the Edison Electric Institute beginning in 1979. At both EEI and NEI, he has held a series of progressively more senior positions being responsible for used fuel management and related areas.
Before joining EEI, Mr. Kraft held engineering, project engineering and research engineering positions with GPU Service Company starting in 1973 (including service on the TMI Accident Recovery Team immediately following the March 28, 1979 accident). Beginning in 1972, Mr. Kraft held a nuclear projects engineering position with General Dynamics/Electric Boat Division.
Mr. Kraft holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Pi Tau Sigma, from New York University (1972). He also holds two Masters degrees from Stevens Institute of Technology, Mechanical Engineering (1975) and Management Science (1980). He is a member of the American Nuclear Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Rajiv S. Kundalkar

Raj Kundalkar serves as vice president, nuclear technical services for the nuclear division of Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) one of the nation's leading electric utilities. He reports to the chief nuclear officer and is responsible for nuclear systems and design engineering, nuclear fuel procurement and core design, spent fuel management program, safety analyses and probabilistic safety assessments. He is also responsible for management and execution of nuclear projects in excess of $200 million annually. Mr. Kundalkar was also responsible for FPL's license renewal team that successfully extended the Turkey Point and St. Lucie operating licenses by 20 years. He has developed and is implementing strategies for long-term asset management that includes replacement of large aging material components such as reactor heads, steam generators, pressurizers as well as aging electronic and mechanical systems.
Mr. Kundalkar is also responsible for FPL Energy's nuclear plant due diligence and acquisitions. Under his direction, the FPL Energy nuclear acquisition team has put together successful winning bids for Seabrook Station, British Energy's interests in Amergen, as well as winning bids for Duane Arnold Energy Center and Point Beach nuclear units. In addition, he effectively managed transition/integration activities for those acquisitions.
Mr. Kundalkar completed a rotational assignment as the vice president of St. Lucie nuclear power plant between January 2000 and June 2001. He was responsible for overseeing the operation of the two nuclear units at the St. Lucie site which resulted in top quartile WANO performance and record generation.
Mr. Kundalkar joined FPL in 1989 and has held positions of increasing responsibilities in the nuclear division. From 1992 to February 1996, he was engineering manager of the Turkey Point nuclear facility. During his tenure, Turkey Point was named the nation's most improved nuclear plant for the three-year period from 1992-1994 by the American Nuclear Society.
Previously, Mr. Kundalkar was site engineering manager at Exelon's Dresden nuclear plant. Additionally, he was affiliated with the Tennessee Valley Authority's Sequoyah nuclear power plant, and Southern California Edison's San Onofre nuclear power plant while with Bechtel Power Corporation.
Mr. Kundalkar is a registered professional engineer, has completed senior reactor operator certification for management at the Turkey Point nuclear plant and BWR systems training at Dresden nuclear plant. Mr. Kundalkar is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India. He has a master's degree in structural engineering from the University of New Hampshire and has completed coursework for a doctor of philosophy degree in engineering mechanics from Northwestern University.
Olivier Mallet

Olivier Mallet is Senior Executive Vice-President of Mining, Chemistry, Enrichment Sector of AREVA NC.
He began his career in 1981 at the French Ministry of Finance, and held positions from 1988 to 1993 as Advisor to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance.
He joined Thomson Multimedia in 1993, where he became Chief Financial Officer and member of the Executive Committee from 1995 to 2001.
In 2001 he joined Pechiney as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Executive Committee.
He came to AREVA in 2004 as Executive Vice President of its subsidiary AREVA T&D, before being appointed Deputy Chief Financial Officer for the Group.
In November 2006, he is appointed as Senior Executive Vice-President of Mining, Chemistry, Enrichment Sector of AREVA NC.
Scott Melbye

Scott Melbye is President of Cameco Inc. and is responsible for the global marketing activities of the Cameco group of companies. He most recently served as Cameco Inc's Vice President, Marketing (Europe) & Trading, and was previously responsible for Cameco's North and South American markets. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Marketing for Cameco's U.S. mining subsidiary, Power Resources, in Denver.
Mr. Melbye has 23 years of nuclear industry experience. He joined Cameco in 1989 and held several positions in the Saskatoon Head Office with responsibilities for North American marketing, fuel services sales, and market planning. Prior to that, he worked for Arizona Public Service Co. as a nuclear fuel analyst/administrator with uranium and conversion procurement responsibilities for the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. His initial industry experience was as a nuclear fuel broker with Nukem, Inc., in New York.
Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Arizona State University with degree specialization in International Business.
Thomas L. Neff

Dr. Neff is a senior researcher at M.I.T.'s Center for International Studies. His current research focuses on international nuclear fuel markets, the destruction of fissile material as it relates to security and markets, and conversion of the nuclear complex of the former Soviet Union.
In 1991, Dr. Neff proposed what is now the Highly Enriched Uranium "Megatons to Megawatts" program to high officials of U.S. and Soviet governments and has frequently been asked to advise both governments on its implementation. He received the 1997 Leo Szilard Award for originating this program and for his ongoing efforts in nuclear arms reductions. From 1977 to 1986, Dr. Neff directed the International Energy Studies Program at the M.I.T. Energy Laboratory. Previously, he held research positions in theoretical physics at M.I.T., Stanford University, and the University of California of Berkeley. He served as chief of staff of the 1977 Ford Foundation Study, Nuclear Power Issues and Choices. From 1973 to 1976, he was Assistant to the President of the American Physical Society, where he was instrumental in helping create and oversee APS physics and society programs, including the Reactor Safety Study. Dr. Neff has served as an advisor to numerous government and private agencies in nuclear policy matters and to numerous companies on dispute resolution and corporate strategy. He is the author of several books and numerous articles in journals ranging from Physical Review to Foreign Affairs.
Dr. Neff received a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics, summa cum laude, from Lewis and Clark College in 1965 and a doctorate in physics from Stanford University in 1973. Dr. Neff is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and member and former Council member of the Federation of American Scientists.
John Ritch

John Ritch joined the World Nuclear Association (WNA) in January 2001 after seven years as U.S. ambassador to UN organizations in Vienna, among them the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization. In Vienna, he was active in promoting the IAEA's global strengthened-safeguards system and new conventions on nuclear safety. He participated in the U.S.-North Korea nuclear negotiations and the UN Conferences reviewing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1995 and 2000.
Previously Amb. Ritch was a staff adviser to the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee for 22 years, specializing in East-West relations and nuclear arms control. During that period, he was also an entrepreneur, heading a real estate development company and cofounding a multinational enterprise marketing fitness-related products throughout Europe. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and holds an M.A. degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
Christopher A. Rusch

Christopher A. Rusch is a Senior Consultant with NAC International with over 30 years of experience in the nuclear industry.
Mr. Rusch has authored reports on LWR and PHWR nuclear fuel fabrication markets, research reactor fuel management, uranium enrichment services market, the transportation of nuclear fuel, nuclear fuel cycle costs, decommissioning cost analysis, nuclear waste disposal costs, disposition of U.S. weapons plutonium (MOX option), causes of the shutdown of U.S. nuclear plants and the cost of spent fuel management.
He led a five-year project to design and install pressure-monitoring equipment cabinets at the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant. The project included preliminary and final cabinet design, procurement of precision pressure monitoring equipment and other specialized electronic and mechanical components and the assembly of the equipment in instrument cabinets and transportation of the cabinets to Japan.
Prior to joining NAC International, Mr. Rusch held several positions in the nuclear fuel department of Portland General Electric including the department manager responsible for all phases of nuclear fuel procurement, contract administration and the supervision of incore fuel management and safety analysis personnel.
He began his nuclear career in the U.S. Navy nuclear propulsion program.
Mr. Rusch earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering both from the University of Washington.
Ed Rutkowski

Mr. Rutkowski provides direction and oversight for management of DOE's natural uranium inventory, advises senior management in DOE and other agencies on program policy and legislative issues, and is also responsible for the management of Russian uranium purchases made under agreement between the United States and Russian governments.
Prior to June 2005, he was Managing Engineer for Special Projects with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he supported the National Nuclear Security Administration's Highly Enriched Uranium (HEU) Transparency Implementation Program. At this time he was also a member of a team of US experts that conducted monitoring trips to Russian nuclear material processing facilities as part of the U.S. / Russian HEU Agreement.
Past experience includes positions at TradeTech, NUEXCO, and DOE's Office of Uranium Enrichment.
Mr. Rutkowski graduated with a B.S. in Management Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and from RCA Institutes with a major in Electronic Technology.
Jérôme Sermage

Jerome Sermage currently serves as Sales Manager for AREVA NC and is the new chair of Uranium Concentrate Task Force for World Nuclear Transport Institute.
He has a background in mechanical engineering. He is graduate from the University of Paris and postgraduate in Solid Mechanics. In 1996, he joined the Enrichment Business Unit of COGEMA as Resources Manager and in 2000, he became Deputy Director of Resources and Sales Department of EURODIF.
In 2005 he was appointed as Sales Manager for Europe in International Marketing and Sales Department for Mining-Chemistry and Enrichment Sector in AREVA NC and in charge of coordinating the AREVA Font End transportation activities. In this respect, he is the primary contact within AREVA for transportation issues notably related to AREVA mining activities as well as conversion and enrichment activities and is in charge of optimizing transport security for the AREVA Front End Sector.

Peter Shedrovitsky currently serves as the Deputy Director of JSC Atomenergoprom For a number of years worked as an expert and consultant in the fields of territorial development, regional and industrial policy, innovative activities and professional training. Some of his positions include Member of the Board of the "North-West Strategic Studies Center" Fund, Adviser of the Presidential Plenipotentiary of the Federal Volga Region in strategic development issues, Counselor of the Minister of Education and Science of Russian Federation.

Michael J. Smith

Mike Smith is a recognized expert business leader, program manager and world nuclear fuel cycle consultant. He has 25 years of professional experience serving government and industry in the areas of nuclear fuel cycle consulting; nuclear nonproliferation; material protection, control and accounting (MPC&A); strategic planning; business operations and program management.
Mr. Smith joined UxC in March 2008 as Senior Vice President, Fuel Cycle. In this capacity, he manages government-related business, contributes to commercial consulting projects and the company's information products and services, and expands the company's backend fuel cycle information business.
As a Senior Associate with Booz Allen Hamilton, Mr. Smith led the firm's efforts on various nuclear nonproliferation programs and nuclear energy initiatives. He managed work for offices of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and led corporate efforts to capture new government and industry programs related to nuclear nonproliferation, MPC&A and nuclear energy.
Mr. Smith was Director of International Programs for NAC International, a nuclear energy consulting firm headquartered in Atlanta, with offices in London, Moscow, New York and Tokyo. At NAC, Mr. Smith managed the company's Moscow office and directed the work of staff consultants, analysts and programmers in the collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of nuclear fuel cycle information for government and commercial clients.
Russell E. Stachowski

Russell Stachowski has been in his Chief Engineer role for two years. He is responsible for the identification and development of new technologies related to nuclear physics and nuclear engineering analysis of light water reactors for both Global Nuclear Fuel (a joint venture of GE, Hitachi and Toshiba) and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy. Prior to becoming Chief Engineer in the nuclear area in 2005, he was Principal Engineer, New Product Development and the Principal Fuel Engineer, Europe located in Switzerland, where he specialized in the development and licensing of nuclear fuel in Europe. He led the Nuclear Methods team in developing lattice and core physics methods for BWRs, including the prediction and interpretation of in-core neutron and gamma sensitive instrumentation. He has also held numerous design, analysis and experimental roles for GE Energy, Nuclear in San Jose and Wilmington, as well as for GE's former Electromagnetic Launchers Operation in Malta, NY. Russell has received numerous awards including the 2006 Energy New Product Introduction Award, the 2005 Award for Innovation and Imagination, a CEO Award in 2003 and the Outstanding Technical Contribution Award in 1999. Outside his tenure at GE, Russell was employed at Advanced Research and Applications Corporation in Sunnyvale, CA where he managed technology development programs in high intensity x-rays optics, gamma radiation diagnostics and test design. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Kiyoshi Yamauchi

Mr. Kiyoshi Yamauchi just became the Executive Officer, Senior Vice President, Nuclear Energy Systems Headquarters of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) on the 1st of April, 2008.
As an executive, he is responsible for all over the nuclear business especially on the technical side. He is also still working as the General Manager of Nuclear Energy Systems Engineering Center of the company.
He joined the member of Directors, Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ) in June 2007. Also, he served as the Chair of Japan Section, American Nuclear Society (ANS) in 2007.
In 1971, he graduated from the faculty of nuclear engineering, the University of Tokyo and joined Mitsubishi Atomic Power Industries, Inc. (MAPI). He has been active in the nuclear engineering field throughout his career including after the merger with MHI. His expertise ranges from mechanical engineering, nuclear safety to MOT over nuclear engineering.
